Suhail Y Tayeb is a real estate developer, investor, educator, and author with more than two decades of experience across residential and commercial real estate. His work spans the full investment life cycle, from acquisition and underwriting to redevelopment, operations, and exit strategy.

He is Director of NYU’s Center for the Sustainable Built Environment and a professor at the NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate. His teaching and research span real estate development, urban economics, sustainability, and emerging infrastructure.

Increasingly, his work focuses on data centers and AI infrastructure. He examines how real estate, energy, capital, regulation, and community considerations shape where infrastructure gets built and whether projects can move from concept to execution. He also chairs NYU Schack’s Data Center & AI Infrastructure Forum and Annual Conference on Sustainable Real Estate.

As an author and speaker, Tayeb focuses on the decisions that determine whether real estate investments succeed or fail. His work has examined property valuation, affordable housing, redevelopment, sustainability, and the economics of retrofitting and reuse. He also writes about the development and investment challenges created by the rapid growth of digital infrastructure.

Tayeb has advised investors, developers, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals on real estate investment, redevelopment, portfolio strategy, and risk. His background in engineering, real estate, and strategy allows him to approach investment decisions through both technical and commercial lenses.

He holds a Master’s degree in Leadership and Strategy as a Sloan Fellow from London Business School and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
