Suhail Y. Tayeb is a real estate developer, investor, and educator with over two decades of experience across residential, commercial, and infrastructure-adjacent real estate. His work spans the full investment life cycle, from acquisition and underwriting to redevelopment, operations, and exit strategy. He is the Director of the Center for the Sustainable Built Environment and a Clinical Assistant Professor at NYU’s Schack Institute of Real Estate, where he teaches courses on green building, urban real estate economics, and the intersection of policy, capital, and the built environment. His research and teaching focus on how real estate decisions shape long-term economic, environmental, and social outcomes, particularly in existing buildings and legacy systems. As an author and speaker, Suhail’s work examines affordable housing, government-backed rental programs including housing vouchers, property valuation, and the real economics of retrofitting and reuse. Rather than focusing on idealized new development, he concentrates on improving performance, resilience, and livability in the buildings and neighborhoods people already inhabit. Suhail advises investors, developers, and institutions on portfolio strategy, redevelopment, and risk management, with experience working alongside high-net-worth individuals and family offices. His background combines engineering, finance, and strategy, allowing him to bridge technical systems, market realities, and human outcomes. He holds a Master’s degree in Leadership and Strategy as a Sloan Fellow from London Business School and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. London Business School has featured his work in a case study highlighting his approach to leadership, problem-solving, and impact-driven execution.
