Hello everyone. My name is Stokely Murray and I'm honored that you took time out to get to know more about me as an author. 'Author'. It is still incredible that I have even written books and now I can call myself author. You may ask, "What led me to pursue this path?" Well, it's been a combination of factors and life-alternating experiences. Firstly, my insatiable love of reading and writing. My parents were reading to me from when I was in the womb. At 3 years old, I was reading international publications such as, Time Magazine and Newsweek, and the local newspapers here in Barbados. I was often given the task to read to the children at the nursery I attended for nap time after lunch. When, it came to writing books, I can honestly say that it wasn't in the works. However, the lifetime struggle of dealing with unfortunate passing of my mother in my early 20's, being inspired by my father, Glyne Murray's path from a journalist to an author of a powerful and insightful look into Barbadian culture entitled, 'Customs To Treasure'. I can't recall the moment, but around 2010, I felt inspired to write and get the process going. Totally unaware of what would be the format and what it would've been about? I had no other clue other than I wanted it to reflect Barbadian culture. It then blossomed into the desire to pay homage to my deceased mother Floyd, my father and the many persons that influenced my adolescent and teenage years. To morph them all into a character called, 'Charlie Hardears'. It then struck me. Why don't I share tales of my growing up in Barbados and immerse them with the many characters and tales, that still run rampant in my imagination? It has led to an indescribable joy, pride and personal fulfillment, that I have started this series of books. I do hope you join me in this journey in sharing my stories with the world.
