Stephen Cipes is “Uncle Steve” to an entourage of kids… After all, he IS a kid! “I never like to be serious. Life is fun… And this is our playground!” Stephen likes to run along the lake at daybreak every day and to greet the sun, RAA, barefoot. He loves playing with his little daughter and all of his grandchildren every chance he gets and he enjoys always having a sense of humor in all of his active business dealings. He is always very busy (busy hands are happy hands) making what he calls, “extraordinary organic wines”. He has envisioned a model of “man and nature” and a venue for the “Grand teachings” on the Summerhill Pyramid 80-acre organic vineyard and nature preserve in Kelowna, British Columbia. He has built a four-story, fused-frame pyramid as close to the absolute precision and alignment of The Great Pyramid of Egypt as possible with today’s technology (the ancient civilization had technology we don’t (yet) have today). In 1997 he established gatherings in the pyramid and around the sacred fire in the Makwala Memorial First Nation Kekuli, welcoming the community to full and new moon Solstice and Equinox gatherings. The “Pyramid Experience” tours and 200-seat organic bistro attract thousands of visitors a day and have made it Canada’s most visited winery. Stephen’s foresight, initiative and passion for organics, along with the unity of humanity, have earned him international acclaim. In 2003, he received the prestigious Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, in the hospitality category. In 2004, he was named, A Friend of the United Nations, alongside Yoko Ono and His Holiness, The Dalai Lama, for his work with Indigo Children. In 2016, he was given The Founder’s Award for his 30 years of contributions to the British Columbia wine industry. In October 2019 he was inducted by the BC Restaurant Association into the Restaurant Hall of Fame where he shared that in his lifetime the population has gone from three billion to eight billion and that we in the hospitality industry have the honour of being leaders in service to offer sustainable local and organic food and beverage. While actively involved in the day-to-day operations at Summerhill and of his New York ventures, Stephen’s bursting energy is like that of a young boy. He shares his profound love of life with children of all ages, and enjoys his four sons and four daughters-in-law, six grandchildren, and wife Rie (pronounced Ria) and little daughter, Esther - the apple of his eye! He welcomes emails and personal calls at stephen@alloneera.com and 1-833-ALL-1-ERA.
