Steve Butcher lives in Northwest Arkansas with his wife, Yavonne, where they raised four children. He studied horticulture and landscape design at the School of Agriculture at the University of Arkansas, but ultimately, he would spend his career owning an Architecture firm with over 300 employees.

In 1978, before college, he moved to Sarasota, Florida, and worked as a landscaper. The experience ignited a love for plant life and a passion for environmental awareness. He believes regenerative farming and gardening are pragmatic solutions to preserving the earth's ecosystem and improving the nutritional value of our food.

Until 2012, Steve and his family farmed 240 acres, growing livestock and managing their one-acre garden. This experience taught Steve the benefits of healthy soil and using raised beds. Today, he tends a smaller garden nestled in woodlands where gardening challenges are very different from open fields. Still, the goal is the same: to have healthy soil.

It took Steve many years of gardening to learn what works or not. He hopes that his past successes and failures will translate into success for others by sharing solutions he learned along the way. If you asked him, "What is the most important thing to remember to garden successfully?" He would answer, "Don't give up."
