In 1967, I came into this world in Bergen auf Rügen. For a quarter-century, I dedicated myself to a life that was at times filled with exuberant enthusiasm and excessive moments – a lifestyle devoted to alcohol. However, after 21 years, the foundation of my marriage began to crack under the weight of this lifestyle and eventually shattered. But in 2018, a new inclination ignited within me, a liberating flame that engulfed my soul – the love for writing. Today, I stand as an author, and from my pen flowed the book "My Deadly Friend: The Chaotic Journey of an Alcoholic." In this work, I paint the vivid tapestry of my chaotic journey as an unwavering alcoholic. It narrates an intense, almost life-consuming attachment to my "friend" alcohol. It was only in December 2016, after an exhausting battle, that I managed to break free from this murderous spell, finding fulfillment in a contented, abstinent life since. Within my lines, I consistently shine a light on the profound, potentially lethal dangers that alcohol carries. In doing so, I offer insights into my experiences – sometimes through humor, sometimes unsettling, but always in a gripping manner. In 2020, the second part followed: "My Deadly Friend: Beyond Fear." As a sober alcoholic, I have inscribed my profound experiences in these books, with a sincerity that touches the soul. My aspiration is to infuse hope into individuals facing similar circumstances, underscoring that even in the darkest moments, akin to my own, it is possible to escape the whirlpool of despair. Moreover, I attempt to dissect, across various episodes, why an alcoholic must drink despite internal resistance, to offer a modicum of understanding to those untouched by this addiction. The book "My Deadly Friend: The Chaotic Journey of an Alcoholic" embarked on its journey into the English language in 2021, seeking to embrace an even wider readership.
