Stan Cromlish is a storyteller, history buff, and full-time wanderer who splits his time between the open road and the written page. Born and raised in Belmont, North Carolina, back when textiles were still king, Stan has always been fascinated by the past—especially The Great Depression and World War II. That passion led to his first book, The Grandfather I Never Knew: The Early Years ~ 1915 to 1945, inspired by a trove of family letters and photographs. He is also working on the Johnson Family Chronicles, a World War II-era novel series. When he’s not writing about history, Stan is chasing new horizons in Bertie Bea, his 2016 Tiffin Allegro Open Road 34PA, with Rosie, his trusty tow car. Through Wandering Gypsy RV Life—his blog, podcast, and YouTube channel—he shares road-tested tips, epic fishing adventures, and the occasional “lesson learned the hard way” from his travels to National Parks, small towns, and wild places across America. A lifelong Eagle Scout, former board member of the Belmont Historical Society, and outdoorsman with a love for fishing, hunting, and dog training, Stan believes in preserving the past while making the most of the present. Whether he’s exploring history or the highways, he’s always in search of the next great story—and a good sunrise.
