Stacy Short grew up in a small rural area in Northwest, Texas. She earned her undergraduate degree in English at The University of Texas in Arlington, and her M.A. in English from Texas Woman's University. Short is a former high school and college English teacher with an extremely competitive streak, who spent the first year of her teaching career playing catch-up and trying to stay sane, and the next three decades perfecting her craft in teaching English, journalism, photography, videography and film. With some helpful resources and guidance, and an insane amount of research and learning, she quickly rose to the top in her profession, earning several Teacher of the Year awards, a few "Innovation" awards, and the Trail Blazer and Edith Fox King awards in journalism. She has worked with all levels of students, including many national merit scholars. She coached academics for over 30 years in multiple events including academic decathlon, film, journalism, literary criticism, ready writing, and spelling. Her students have been recognized at national and state competitions, many earning highest awards. At home, she enjoys writing, knitting, and lake-life, as well as her family, grand-baby, dogs, and horses. Now, she is taking her experience and putting it in print and digital forms with the hope of inspiring the next generation of creators.
