Since my childhood, books and reading were, and still, my greatest hobby, and because in the country of origin, Iraq, where I used to live, there were no accommodations or accessibility for people with disabilities to attend school, I transformed my home, and with the help of my parents, into a school of free thinking. I chose the books and the areas of study for myself. Luckily, that worked better for me than the public schools that are all about memorizing the data rather than understanding them. I remember how I studied Arabic Classics, the Qur’an and the tradition, despite the fact that my open-mindedness put me in trouble with a traditional community, but I was able to have a broader view of Islamic history and thought. Besides that, I studied philosophy, political science, poetry, and literature. These studies enabled me to become a well-known writer in the Middle East and in Iraq. When I came to the U.S. in 2010 I started going to school, and from the beginning, I chose history as a major, as I graduated with honors from Cuyamaca College in 2016. Also, I did very well at SDSU in the years 2016-2018 as my counselor and the Department of History helped me, and I graduated with the same major with outstanding and honors. I remember how one of the professors who taught American History used to call me “Super Student” as I got high degrees that surprised her; I got 98 out of 100. And In the year 2012 I published my first book, and that book is illustrated with 63 drawings of my own artwork, as I used to fill my empty difficult life in Iraq with drawing, a skill I probably inherited from my father who was himself a teacher. I published about 300 articles in Arabic in the Newspapers and Websites, and also I published two Arabic books.
