Simon Froehling, born in 1978, is a Swiss-Australian dual citizen currently living in Zurich. He is a graduate of the Swiss Literature Institute at the Bern University of the Arts and made a name for himself as a playwright and poet in the early 2000s. In 2010, his first novel LANGE NÄCHTE TAG was published to critical acclaim by Bilgerverlag. After a long absence due to illness, he found his way back into writing and publishing as Writer in Residence at the New York University's Deutsches Haus. His second novel DÜRRST was published in the fall of 2022, again by Bilgerverlag. Simon has been awarded various prizes and grants for his work, including from the Department of Culture of the Canton of Zurich, City of Zurich Culture, the Cultural Foundation of the Canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden and the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia.
