Shahroo is a Behavioural Change Specialist and best-selling author. Her approach to motivation, habit-change and overall wellbeing is inspired by the experience she gained working in various roles across the addiction treatment field. During this time, she developed a knowledge of how to bring about meaningful, self-led change, even in those who were most resistant to it. Shahroo realised whilst working in clinical, community and prison settings that the motivational tools being used effectively to transform the lives of addicts could be used by anyone to change their unwanted day-to-day habits in both a personal and professional context. Aside from her thriving private practice, Shahroo also works as a relapse management coach and group facilitator at Amy's Place, a recovery house for young women, set up by The Amy Winehouse Foundation. She has delivered sold-out personal development workshops at The School of Life and provided training and consultancy services to the UK's leading health and social care organisations. She has worked alongside MIND, training Wellbeing Coaches to use their own experience of mental health recovery to support others in their communities, and during the summer of 2018 Shahroo spent time at a refugee camp in Samos, Greece, teaching humanitarians simple and free coping strategies tools that they can use on the ground to avoid burnout. She has worked closely with Women of the World Festival since 2016, when she was invited to be a mentor to younger women and later to speak on a panel focusing on problematic drinking habits and normalise alcohol abuse. In 2018 she was invited back to chair the One in Five panel on mental health at Southbank Center. In 2019 she has been invited back, this time to mark International Women's Day with by delivering a workshop at the conference on her successful approach to habit-change. Shahroo was a member of the judging panel at 2019 London Book Fair and recently contributed as an expert to research conducted by non-party think-tank Reform UK which is dedicated to improving public services. Shahroo is a proud member of The Speakers Collective, a group who have committed to attending regular CPD sessions and upholding specific quality standards. They also adhere to the Mental Health Media Charter. Shahroo was named one of Red Magazine's Smart Women of 2018, selected for Marie Claire's Power List in 2019 and won the Baton Award in the Thought Leader of the Year Category in 2019 at the House of Lords. In 2017 Shahroo signed a 2-book international deal with Pan Macmillan. Her first book, The Kindness Method, was released in June 2018, became a bestseller. It has so far been translated into 5 languages (with more on the way), as well as being published in the USA. Her second book, The Last Diet, shares her personal experience of change and hands over effective weight management tools which prioritise mental health, self-esteem and overall wellbeing.
