Scott has been CEO or President of several companies, specializing in corporate turn-arounds. He has lived and worked in the U.S., Europe, and Australia and has extensive knowledge of commercial real estate. His first book, Saving Investa, How an ex-factory worker helped save one of Australia's iconic companies, was published November 1, 2016 by Next Century Publishing in the US and Xoum Publishing in Australia. His second book, Think Like a Dog: How dogs teach us to be happy in life and successful at work, published by Indiana University Press,is a whimsical look at life co-authored by his rescue dog, Sadie. In addition to corporate leadership and writing, Scott's passion is establishing scholarship programs for college students who are eligible for financial aid and are willing to help others through community engagement efforts. Scott's book, Education without Debt, published by Indiana University Press, focuses on the problem of unaffordable education and the resulting crushing levels of student debt. His book, Legacy, An Ancestral Journey Through American History, is the story of Scott's ancestors set in early American history and represents decades of detailed research. His most recent book returns to his love of dogs. My Friend Charley, is a children's book focused on Scott's King Charles Cavalier puppy, Charlie.
