Sarah Smith was born into an Army family and spent the first half of her youth moving around the East Coast, with stints in Texas and Seoul, South Korea. She was homeschooled for her entire education and settled in the mountains of North Carolina when in her teens. Since then, she has only left for a one-year hiatus, after marrying and joining her husband at Southeastern Baptist Seminary, where she had the opportunity to begin learning biblical Hebrew and was exposed to the rigors of the academic side of the Christian faith. After seminary, the Smiths returned to the mountains, which they intend to make their "place on earth". Besides writing, Sarah also homeschools the ten Smith children and manages the family farm, which includes: dogs, cats, rabbits, ducks, turkeys, pigs, and milk goats.
