Sarah is an educator, author, and professional learning specialist with more than twenty years of experience helping teachers, coaches, and school leaders create more equitable, language-rich classrooms. She is the author of The Language Lens for Content Classrooms (1st and 2nd editions), a practical guide that helps K–12 educators better support multilingual learners and strengthen academic language development across content areas for ALL academic language learners. Across her career, Sarah has taught English language and literacy skills to learners of all ages, from young children to adults, and has worked with schools, nonprofit organizations, and other institutions in the U.S. and internationally. Her work is grounded in deep expertise in curriculum, instruction, coaching, bilingual and ESL education, literacy, and professional learning. Sarah holds a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction with a focus on social justice in urban education, along with certifications in general education, reading, English as a Second Language, bilingual education (Spanish), reading, and coaching and mentoring. She has also served as an instructor and practicum supervisor in educator preparation and graduate programs, helping develop the next generation of teachers and leaders. A recognized leader in her field, Sarah has designed and led leadership development initiatives for schools, districts, and mission-driven organizations across the US and globe. Her current work as Founder and Director of Confianza focuses on helping educators strengthen instruction, expand access, and build sustainable systems that support meaningful change over time.
