Matt Cook is a business owner, attorney, and lifelong student of the scriptures. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in political science and later earned his law degree from BYU’s J. Reuben Clark Law School, where he served as Managing Editor of the BYU Law Review. After law school, he clerked for Judge Edith H. Jones of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, then practiced corporate law at a prominent national firm. Matt has published scholarly articles on judicial ethics and constitutional law, but his greatest passion lies in studying and teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. He now lives in southern Idaho, where he owns and operates several businesses. He is a returned missionary from the Arizona Tempe Mission. He has also served in various leadership roles in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including as a stake president, bishop, high councilor, stake young men’s president and elders quorum president. Matt and his wife, Trista Williams, are the parents of five children and four grandchildren.
