Roderick Logan writes because he believes human suffering is not a fate to be borne but a mission to overcome. His books explore the intersection of ancient wisdom and contemporary trauma recovery, offering readers pathways toward resilience, authentic spirituality, and thriving family relationships. In "Finding Everland," Dr. Logan guides readers through the first book of Psalms (Psalms 1-41) as a framework for healing from religious trauma and spiritual abuse. Drawing on salutogenic principles—the study of what creates health rather than what causes disease—he offers a different destination than Peter Pan's Neverland. Everland is not a place of escape or denial, but a sustainable way of living authentically in the real world after devastating harm. The book addresses those rebuilding their relationship with God on foundations of truth rather than manipulation, love rather than fear, and freedom rather than control. Each of the 41 chapters combines ancient Hebrew wisdom with trauma-informed understanding, creating a carefully arranged journey from disorientation through honest lament to new integration and purpose. "I Was Loved" focuses on the transformative power of intentional parenting. Through ten chapters exploring themes like connection, play, support, encouragement, and inspiration, Dr. Logan shows parents how their daily actions shape the memories and resilience their children will carry into adulthood. The book challenges parents with a profound question: What are you doing today to ensure that twenty years from now, your child will say with certainty, "I was loved"? Each chapter includes practical parenting tips and exercises, making it both a philosophical exploration and a hands-on guide for raising emotionally healthy, resilient children. Dr. Logan's authority to write these books comes from over 40 years helping individuals, families, and organizational teams work through trauma and toxic stress. He is the founder of Making Space to Heal, and serves as Senior Faculty and Director of Organizational Programs at the Arizona Trauma Institute and the Trauma Institute International. He is a Diplomate with the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress and a Certified Trauma and Resiliency Life Coach, with a Master's in Counseling and a Doctorate in Practical Theology. His work has taken him throughout the United States and multiple countries, training care providers and organizational leaders in trauma-informed approaches. Yet his deepest qualification may be his personal journey. Born in the late 1950s as a midwestern Pentecostal preacher's kid, Dr. Logan experienced firsthand how religious language and practices meant to provide comfort can become sources of profound wounding. His path from that pain to wholeness informs every page he writes. He understands religious trauma not as theory but as lived experience, and he writes *Finding Everland* for those who wonder if spiritual recovery is even possible after such harm. At his core, Roderick means to confront ignorance and apathy. He believes those who teach and train others need continuous learning themselves, and he brings that commitment to everything he writes and does. Roderick and his wife, Melody, have been married for 46 years and have raised three children. They now delight in their children, their spouses, and eight grandchildren. Among family and friends, Roderick is known as the man in a rowboat, rowing backward into the future—a fitting image for someone who draws wisdom from ancient texts to navigate contemporary wounds, and who believes the best way forward often requires understanding where we have been.
