He toured the South, performing until he moved to New York City at the age of eighteen. There, Robert studied dance at the Steps & Broadway Dance Center while studying acting at HB Studios. He went on to perform off-Broadway in "Tambourines to Glory" with John Terrell, on Broadway with the original cast of "Dreamgirls," and in the independent feature, "Spanish Harlem" by British director Daniel Matmor. It was while filming "Spanish Harlem," that Robert discovered his interest in the behind-the-scenes aspects of film and television. Soon thereafter, he began studying screenwriting and producing, In 1991, Robert moved his fledging company, Signature Films, to Studio City (California). His company produced CBS's "Double Jeopardy," starring Joe Penny and Terri Garr and NBC's "Payback," starring Ed Asner and Mary Tyler Moore. In addition, it was Robert's concept that gave birth to USA Network's "Erase the Hate" series, which went on to win a Cable Ace Award and an Emmy in 1997. Robert was then offered a "first look" deal at the Warner Brothers Producers Lot where he worked with the legendary Bud Grant, the former president of CBS. After leaving Warner Brothers, Robert set his sights on feature films. Simultaneous with Robert's departure from WB, his wife, Ann, was given a 3-month notice to vacate the building she had been leasing for a dance center (Millennium Dance Complex) for nearly 10 years, With 3 months to vacate the studio and a 1-year-old son at home, Ann pleaded with her husband to help her construct a new dance complex. Having come from an artistic background, Robert obliged, as he was excited to work with fellow artists again. He moved his production office to the new dance complex and is now planning a merger between both his careers. Robert hopes to bring dance, multimedia, videos, live telecasts, and his own feature film set to the Millennium Dance Complex.
