Robert Eujean Ogden is an author and multidisciplinary artist whose work bridges literature,
music, and filmmaking. He is a storyteller in every sense of the word—shaping words, images,
and sound into art that lingers. Born in a small town in Ohio and now based in Los Angeles he
has traveled America and called all four corners home. Ogden’s voice melds the quiet of the
Midwest with the velocity of the West Coast. He earned his BFA from the Savannah College of
Art and Design and went on to work with DreamWorks Animation, contributing to high-level
storytelling in the film industry. His debut memoir, Eclipse of the Mourning Star, was published
in March to enthusiastic acclaim from such journals as the Dayton Daily News and Voyage LA
magazine and earned a feature position at the American Library Association Annual Conference.
Winner of the Power of the Pen award in childhood, Ogden has always written not just to be
heard, but to reveal what often goes unsaid. The events he experienced in his youth not only
taught him how to persevere, but also how to live life as if each moment were his last. By
exploring themes of resilience, anti-violence, racial equality, and hope, his intent is to inspire
others who may be struggling. These elements come alive in his distinctive writing style and
