Robert E. Murchison is a native of Muskogee, Oklahoma where he was born and raised with the exception for the four years his father was stationed in Columbus, Ohio. He is a graduate of Muskogee High School and a Class of 1977 alumni. His parents raised him with the assistance of his maternal grandparents. From his family he learned an appreciation for history and many other things. He has learned more about history from listening to the elders of the areas he has lived. What he has learned he tries to pass on to others. He has four children and his late wife which he based characters in "A Family of Time" on. He and his wife came up with the idea for the story when they lived in Heavener, Oklahoma in the early 1990s. His wife supported his writing the story but unfortunately she passed before it was completed. He and his family has a number of ethnic backgrounds to them, but consider only one race, the human race. He and his children are registered members of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma. Family is very important to him and is carried over in the story line. He grew up during the USA/USSR space race for the moon and gained some knowledge from this era. From this era, television shows, and movies he gained his interest in space, science, science fiction, and science future. He is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served as a launch crew member of Titan II ICBM system at McConnell AFB in Wichita, Kansas during the "Cold War" era. He has many veterans in his lineage and a number still living. He has been a substitute teacher, cub master, and scout master. He considers himself a jack-of-many-trades but master of none. He also considers himself a forever student and forever teacher. He seeks to continue learning but is also willing to share what he has learned. He has a diverse job background some of which he still uses in his daily life. Some of these jobs have taken him and his family to other states though much of his life he has lived in Oklahoma. Besides having an interest in history much what he learned from relatives, elders, educational programs and a few of his jobs Robert has interests in nature and its processes among many other interests. He still likes helping others. He is a member of the Carnie Welch American Legion Post 27 in Sallisaw where he is on the honor guard, the post historian, and post adjutant. Much about the author's history is used to make it easier to related to the patriarch of the MacMurchaid family. Presently most updates are on the "A Family of Time" Facebook page since the website for this series is down for the time being. He has published ten books to this series to date and is writing book eleven. He is unsure if he will write past this book for the series or if he will write a new series entirely.
