​Colonel Robert Adams, MD, MBA, is the author of three non-fiction books. He served fourteen years in the Navy (twelve as a SEAL) and eighteen years in the Army, where he held the position of Command Surgeon for the famed Army Delta Force and deployed to Iraq with the 82nd Airborne Division. A third-generation Naval Academy graduate, he changed services to attend medical school on an Army scholarship. I enjoyed this book immensely, from the beginning when we learn why Dr. Adams chose to even consider becoming a SEAL to the end when we find out about the special bond that these men share in the short term and throughout the rest of their lives. A great book about a unique physician’s journey April 27, 2020 This is a great book about a unique physician and his improbable, patriotic journey as a Navy SEAL, physician (much later in life), medical officer for the Delta Force, and later, a civilian family practice physician. Dr Adams has a pleasant, easily accessible narrative style, and his stories of both military and medical service are compelling. He overcame many obstacles to become a physician at age 40, and he was able to use his knowledge to serve our nation in fine ways. Special Forces medical personnel have an ethos which Dr Adams embodies —- hard work, training, and patriotism, as well as mooch and travel light! This book will appeal to physicians, medical students, military personnel, and general readers. Congratulations to Dr Adams for his fine book and his service.
