Colonel Robert Adams, MD, MBA, is the author of three non-fiction books. He served fourteen years in the Navy (12 as a SEAL) and eighteen years in the Army, where he served as the Command Surgeon for the famed Army DELTA Force and in Iraq with the 82nd Airborne Division. A third-generation Naval Academy graduate, he changed services to attend medical school on an Army scholarship. He applies his analytical skills to look back at the men who shivered and struggled through Hell Week together. He brings decades of insight, learned caring for others in combat and peacetime, to an insightful analysis of why the men of his BUD/S Class 81 achieved the improbable. "Six Days of Impossible Navy SEAL Hell Week - a Doctor Looks Back" (Doctor series book 1) Then look at 35 years in Family Medicine at war and peace (Doctor series book 2) "Swords and Saints - a Doctor's Journey" The stories from the life and medical career of a Navy SEAL - turned doctor - are surprising, riveting, and inspiring. A family physician delivering babies, managing disease and trauma, and dealing with death - discovers new dimensions when he goes to war in Iraq. Treating the military, civilians and their families, “Dr. Bob” experienced tremendous joy, unbearable heartache, and deep gratitude. He shares those emotional experiences in this deeply personal memoir. His newest book shares exact transcriptions of Civil War letters by Ned Barden to his wife Sara - (my great-great-grandparents) while he was with the 7th Connecticut Infantry Regiment on GEN Grant's staff. You can see the real war through a Union Corporal's eyes. "My Dear Sara Civil War letters 1861-1865" Reviews: 5-STAR! A great book about a unique physician’s journey April 27, 2020 This is a great book about a unique physician and his improbable, patriotic journey as a Navy SEAL, physician (much later in life), medical officer for the Delta Force, and later, a civilian family practice physician. Dr Adams has a pleasant, easily accessible narrative style, and his stories of both military and medical service are compelling. He overcame many obstacles to become a physician at age 40, and he was able to use his knowledge to serve our nation in fine ways. Special Forces medical personnel have an ethos which Dr Adams embodies —- hard work, training, and patriotism, as well as mooch and travel light! This book will appeal to physicians, medical students, military personnel, and general readers. Congratulations to Dr Adams for his fine book and his service.
