A graduate of the College of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, with a BA in Political Science, Rob received his USAF officer commission via the AFROTC program in May 1976. Soon after, he attended USAF Pilot Training at Vance AFB, Oklahoma, graduating in March 1978 and earning both the Distinguished Graduate and Top Flyer Awards, along with his wings. During his 14-year USAF active-duty career, Rob logged nearly 3,000 hours in some of the world’s best fighters, including the F-4, F-5, F-15, MiG-21, and MiG-23. Following his active-duty USAF career, Rob spent the next 28 years as a pilot and wide-body Captain for one of the largest U.S. airlines, logging over 20,000 hours in worldwide operations. Rob is an Air Transport Pilot and holds FAA type ratings in the Boeing 757, 767, and 777 aircraft. Additionally, he holds Authorized Experimental Aircraft ratings in the T-38, F-5, F-4, MiG-21, and MiG-23. Rob resides in Florida with his wife, Ann Marie, who is also a Boeing 787 Captain for one of America’s largest airlines, and their Golden Retriever, “MiGs.”
