Rick Snyder didn’t just retire — he rewired. After four decades managing commercial relationships in the U.S. he jumped into life after work in some creative ways. Now based in Cuenca, Ecuador, he is living proof that retirement can be your best chapter. These days he writes about what a great retirement actually looks like and directs plays at the only English-language theater in Ecuador. His Retirement series grew out of personal research including dozens of left turns. In the first book, Things to Do in Retirement Playbook, Rick lays out over 255 ideas for building a retirement with joy and purpose, not just calendar fillers. The second, Live The Retirement That Actually Fits You, digs into a stickier topic underneath all those ideas: not just what to do with your time, but who you get to be once the job title is gone. The series is specifically for boomers standing at the edge of retirement wondering what comes next, and for the ones already in it who suspect there's more to it than golf. His answer, tested on himself is: plenty. Rick holds an MBA from Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management, class of 1981, back when business plans were carved on stone tablets and can get around Spanish-speaking countries in their language but is can't escape the label "gringo."
