Dr Richard Duggins is a leading Consultant Psychiatrist and Consultant Psychotherapist, internationally recognised for his expertise in workplace mental health and wellbeing. Often called "the doctors’ doctor", he’s known for the compassionate care he provides to those who care for others, especially fellow clinicians seeking help when they’re struggling. A trusted advisor to organisations across sectors, Richard helps teams recognise, prevent, and recover from burnout, and works with leaders to embed meaningful, effective support for staff at every level. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, a psychoanalytic psychotherapist, and a certified Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) trainer. He directs the Newcastle IPT Training Institute and is also an accredited Schwartz Round Facilitator, Balint Group Leader, and provider of Critical Incident Debriefing. Richard began his academic journey at Oxford University, where he earned a First Class Honours degree in Pure and Applied Biology, before going on to study Medicine at Newcastle University. He now lives in rural Northumberland in the North East of England, where he finds joy in running, cycling, and long walks with his family along the region’s peaceful beaches and windswept fells.
