Richard has deep expertise in international law and dispute resolution, particularly relating to the United States, Russia/Ukraine. He advised the Yeltsin presidential administration on transitioning to democracy and free markets, delivered a UN keynote address and served as a member of the Advisory Council of the International Crisis Group. After two decades as an equity partner at Latham & Watkins, he became Managing Partner at Eurasia Advisors LLC and Innovate Partners, LLC. An avid guitar, tennis and chess player, Richard ran in a worldwide election for the Deputy Presidency of the World Chess Federation as running mate of world chess champion Anatoly Karpov with the support of chess champions Garry Kasparov and Magnus Carlsen. Richard is actively involved in FirstMove, a not-for-profit organization that introduces chess into the curriculum of US public schools enabling to date over 5 million elementary school students to develop critical thinking, character and decision-making skills through chess. Richard speaks frequently on international political/business matters, on critical thinking and on the detriments of supernatural (religious) belief systems. He is fluent in English, Spanish and Russian. Richard raised four children. All of Richard's royalties from the sale of The Earthbound Parent are automatically donated to the Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason & Science.
