Reena Young is a writer, pianist, and educator whose work is rooted in lived experience, deep discipline, and compassion for the human journey. With more than forty years of teaching experience, her professional life has been shaped equally by classical music, pedagogy, and a profound personal transformation that later found its voice in writing. Her musical path began in 1979 in the Soviet Union, where she spent nearly two decades working within the system of specialized music schools for gifted children. This formative period laid a strong classical foundation and instilled a deep respect for rigorous musical training, discipline, and artistic integrity. Alongside her teaching, Reena worked extensively as a collaborative pianist (accompanist), an experience that refined her musical sensitivity, ensemble awareness, and understanding of music as a living, shared art. Since 1995, Reena has lived and worked in the United States, where she founded her own private piano studio. Over the years, she has developed a flexible and thoughtful teaching approach, consistently seeking creative solutions to pedagogical challenges. Her work is informed by decades of hands-on experience and by careful study of the writings and methods of the great piano pedagogues. Classical music remains her lifelong passion and central artistic language—one that continues to guide her work as a teacher, musician, and author. For nearly twenty years, however, her professional achievements unfolded alongside a hidden struggle with high-functioning addiction. From the outside, her life appeared successful—she was raising a family, earning multiple degrees, and running a thriving studio—but inwardly, those years were marked by growing inner conflict. Her turning point came with the realization that strength is not measured by perfection, but by honesty and the courage to change. That awakening became the foundation of her writing. Today, Reena helps readers understand addiction through a clear, human, and emotionally grounded lens. Her work focuses on healing the emotional core of addiction, rebuilding identity, and rediscovering inner strength after years of struggle. She believes recovery is never one-size-fits-all, and that each person deserves a path that truly resonates with who they are. Reena lives in the American Midwest, where she continues to write, teach, and support those seeking clarity, freedom, and transformation. “My mission is simple: to help people stop suffering alone and find a path to recovery that truly fits who they are.” You can find her recovery-focused videos on YouTube: @AddictionRecovery-100
