Rebecca Barrett writes historical fiction, cozy mysteries, children’s stories, and short stories of life in the South. An avid reader since the book mobile began coming to their farm when she was a child, Rebecca now happily lives in on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay where she finds inspiration all around her.

Currently Rebecca is writing a detective series set in the deep South of the sixties featuring Hugo August, a Vietnam veteran, as her protagonist. The first two books of the series, The Rat Catcher and She Had To Die, are available in paperback and ebook format. The third book, Something Wicked, is taking shape as our intrepid author rocks out to the great music of the sixties and delves into the good vibes, high times, and social unrest of that era.

Her cozy mysteries feature Callahan, a Scottish Fold cat-about-town who takes up with a wandering army veteran. Cat Callahan is a cat of the street, cat of mystery, artful, cagey. A vagabond of the roads and rails, Callahan prefers the term hobo as the pair ramble across the southern states landing in the heart of murder along the way. An open door, a late night, a curious cat. What to do, what to do? Well, there’s no debating it, is there? These mysteries are fun and light hearted and just perfect for a beach read or a rainy day.
