Raphael Mielke, born in 1995, grew up in Heidelberg at the edge of Germany's Odenwald hills and was a track-and-field athlete and decathlete before the mountains found him. Since spontaneously climbing 6,088-meter Huayna Potosí in Bolivia, high-altitude mountaineering has never let go of him: more than 60 summits in over 16 countries, from Mont Blanc to Aconcagua, the highest mountain of the Americas. When he is not in the mountains, he lives in Munich, where he is a startup founder. "The Stone Sentinel" is his first book, also available in German as "Der steinerne Wächter".
