R. Michael Hendrix is a designer, musician and author obsessed with creativity. As a Partner and Global Design Director at innovation firm IDEO he worked with teams on everything from home goods to homeland security. As Assistant Professor of Music Business/Management at Berklee College of Music he taught students how to transfer their virtuosity to all parts of their lives. To Michael, no matter the creative endeavor, the underlying process is the same. This perspective led to writing Two Beats Ahead with his friend and colleague, Panos A. Panay whom he met at Berklee. The book looks into the shared creative mindsets of artists, producers and entrepreneurs, demystifying the process and illustrating how everyone can unlock their creative potential. Michael’s illustrious 25+ year design career has made him a sought after speaker; he has delivered design keynotes at Fast Company, WIRED, SXSW, AIGA, FUSE, HOW, and Design Management Institute among others, plus music keynotes at SXSW Music, Sonar Plus and Moogfest. He is an AIGA Fellow, recognizing his contribution to the field of graphic design. He also continues to release experimental pop music as R.M.Hendrix.
