Punita Rice is the author of The River’s Daughter, a dark romantic fantasy about love, rebellion, and river magic, set in a society where women are bound by stillness. Inspired by South Asian folklore and the legend of Mirza Sahiba, the novel is her fiction debut. A former teacher and education researcher with a doctorate from Johns Hopkins University, her writing has appeared in Education Week, The Baltimore Sun, and more. Punita also writes children’s books inspired by her own kids, including The Adventures of Hunny & Sunny series, the guide Write & Self-Publish a Children’s Book in 7 Days, and the academic title South Asian American Experiences in Schools.
