Pierre-Yves Beaurepaire is a professor of modern history at the Université Côte d'Azur (Nice) and a member of the board of the Institut Universitaire de France. In 2023, he received the Senate History Book Prize for "Les Illuminati. From Secret Society to Conspiracy Theories" (Tallandier, 2022, Texto poche 2023, audible 2024), which has been translated into several languages. He has since continued his investigation into the Masters of Secrecy in the modern era with the publication of "Secret Societies. From the Rosicrucians to Anonymous“ (Tallandier, 2025, Audible 2025) and ”Freemasonry" in the Vérités & Légendes collection published by Perrin (2025), which received extensive media coverage. In the field of the cultural history of the Enlightenment, he has published some twenty works, including “La France des Lumières 1715-1789 (Belin, 2011, Folio Histoire, 2022)”, “Communication in Europe from the Classical Age to the Enlightenment” (Belin, 2014), “The Europe of Freemasons 18th-21st Century” (Belin, 2018), “Marie-Antoinette, a Gourmet Biography” (Payot Rivages, 2017), "The Enlightenment and the World. Travel, Explore, Collect (Belin, 2019). Several have been translated into Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, and Japanese. He has published two atlases: with Silvia Marzagalli, Atlas of the French Revolution 1770-1803. A Global Upheaval“ (4th ed. 2025) and ”Atlas of Modern Europe from the Renaissance to the Enlightenment," published by Autrement.
