Hello, I am a freelance writer, speaker and amateur astronomer turned professional, who has been viewing and imaging the night sky for over 30 years. Paul is married to Lorraine who often offers invaluable advice for the novels due to her love of Genealogy and History. I am a Fellow of both the British Interplanetary Society and Royal Astronomical Society and have been awarded the FAS 'Eric Zucker' award for contributions to astronomy in 2002 and the Sir Arthur Clarke Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012 for the public promotion of astronomy and space Lifetime achievement (hang on, I haven't finished yet!). For eight years I was one of three astronomers on the Omega Holidays Northern Lights Flights (2004 - 2013) showing the public the majesty of the Northern Lights from 35,000ft. From 2006 until January 2024 I worked freelance as the Reviews Editor for the BBC Sky at Night magazine working from my home in Lincolnshire and have now retired from that job to concentrate on more writing.. Fulfilling another lifelong ambition (other than astronomy!) I am now a self published novelist covering three genres: Ghost stories, Space/Science Fiction and now a 'coming of age' series. First out was 'A Ghostly Diversion' and is the first in the 'James Hansone Ghost Mysteries' series followed by 'Secrets of Grasceby Manor', 'Return to De Grasceby Manor/The Search for Helen', 'James and the Air of Tragedy', 'The Haunting of Grasceby Rectory' and 'Spectre of the Grasceby Flier' (published April 2024) with several more planned. There is also an Omnibus edition covering the first five books and a book of short New Year Tales with a second volume expected for December 2024. My foray into Sci Fi and space fiction began with a short apocalyptic novel: 'The Fragility of Existence' followed by 'Fragility of Survival' with at least 2 more planned in the series. The first full length Sci Fi novel, 'The Last Voyage of the StarVista 4' is the first of a trilogy, book 2: 'The Fate of the StarVista 4' is now available with the final book 'Legacy' expected winter 2024. Recently I was inspired to write and publish a novel along the lines of a coming of age novel set in the Lincolnshire Wolds, England in the summer of 1969, 'That Summer We Cherished' which was fun to write and there may be more concerning the two main characters in the near future. More novels are planned so as they say: Watch this space!
