Dear Reader,

My name is Paul Cumberbatch and I was born in Nassau, which is the capital city of The Bahamas, and is located just South of the State of Florida, in close proximity to the United States of America. I started writing poetry over twenty years ago while in high school. I did it mainly to express my thoughts, attempt to relate to the world around me, and to try to identify common thoughts and perceptions of friends who were having similar experiences as I, and travelling a similar road.

I recently started writing poetry again, i.e. as in the last five years (Commencing 2019), because there were various events in the world that I wanted to record, attempt to describe or obtain an understanding of, or to provide my perspective on the various changes that were taking place around me. Topics such as My Father's unexpected Death, Race, Religion, the unlawful killing of Mr. George Floyd, Slavery, and numerous other topics which are close to my heart. I mostly write from personal experience, as in my own, some close family member or friend went through that experience, or I perceive that I have enough understanding of the subject matter to lend a voice to the circumstance(s), situation or individuals that are presently walking along that road.

I hope that you will have the opportunity to journey with me through one of my poems.



Here are My Target Audience(s):

1) Young Black Males who are hurting because of a lost relationship with a Father who was absent for some, most or all of their Child-hood.

2) Those young Ladies of every Ethnicity, that Love us Young Black Males, even though we are Broken, and on the road to healing.

3) Those Hard- Working Mothers who have had to rear us Young Black Males on Your own, or with limited support from the Biological Father of these Young Men, Boys, and Children as a Whole.

4) Those Fathers who were Absent, Dis-Engaged, or for whatever reason did not play a Major, Pivotal or Instrumental role in the lives of us Young Men, Who Needed that support then, and you are Sorry, and Seeking to make Amends, or are asking forgiveness for past transgressions.
