Paul Carey Jones was born in Cardiff. He was a pupil at Ysgol Gymraeg Melin Gruffydd and Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf, and read Physics at The Queen’s College, Oxford. He returned as a teacher to Ysgol Glantaf before embarking on a full-time singing career in 1998 by studying at the Royal Academy of Music and the National Opera Studio in London. He has appeared as a principal guest artist for opera companies across Europe, and has released three solo song albums. As a writer he has written articles for the Wagner Society, the Music Club of London, and the South Wales Echo among others. His blog Ranitidine & Tonic, much-neglected until a global pandemic wiped out all his singing work, has at the time of writing just passed 10,000 readers in 2020. His first book, 'Giving It Away: Classical Music in Lockdown and other fairytales' was published in October 2020.
