Patrick Fillinger is an Ohio-based author who writes fantasy the way he drinks his coffee—strong, a little dark, and best enjoyed with questionable life choices. By day, Pat works in environmental health, which means he spends a surprising amount of time thinking about systems, rules, and what happens when things go catastrophically wrong. By night (and most weekends), he writes stories about gods, reapers, devils, talking animals, and deeply flawed people trying to do the right thing… or at least not make things worse. His work blends fantasy, humor, and heart, often focusing on found family, moral gray areas, and characters who are absolutely not prepared for the supernatural nonsense dropped into their lives. Whether it’s a Grim Reaper with dad jokes, a squirrel with questionable judgment, or a barista who really should have stayed human, Pat’s stories are rooted in character first—magic second. Pat doesn’t write because he thinks he has all the answers. He writes because stories are a way to escape, to heal, and sometimes to laugh at the absurdity of existence while everything is on fire. He hopes his books give readers a place to breathe for a little while… preferably with a cup of coffee or tea in hand. When he’s not writing, Pat can usually be found juggling too many projects at once, building databases, overthinking plot holes at 2 a.m., or explaining to his family why a talking animal is once again an essential character. He currently lives in Ohio with his family, a rotating cast of fictional characters who refuse to stay quiet, and the growing suspicion that Grimble—the imp—might actually be real.
