Pat Miller has been a dog trainer for over thirty-five years. She is the founder of Peaceable Paws Dog & Puppy Training Center, and is a past Board Member of the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers and Past President of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers. She is a leading proponent of force-free dog training techniques, and her columns on training are read by thousands in the Whole Dog Journal, for which she is Training Editor. She is the author of The Power of Positive Dog Training; Beware of the Dog; Play With Your Dog; Positive Perspectives, Love Your Dog, Train Your Dog; and Positive Perspectives 2, Know Your Dog, Train Your Dog; Do-Over Dogs; and How to Foster Dogs. Prior to launching Peaceable Paws, she worked for 20-years in Animal Protection at the Marin Humane Society in Novato, California, where as a Humane Officer and Animal Control Officer she spent her days rescuing animals and arresting people who neglected and abused them. Pat currently resides with her husband, Paul, on their 80-acre farm in Fairplay, Maryland with their 4 horses, 5 cats, 2 dogs, 1 chicken (soon to be more) and their pot-bellied pig, Dexter. The Peaceable Paws Training Center/Dog Trainer Academy is housed on this campus as well. Hundreds of trainers have come to Peaceable Paws from as far as Singapore, Brazil, Japan, Sweden, and Australia as well as across the US and Canada to further their professional skills, and now train dogs all over the world.
