My love affair with words, books and stories began when I was old enough to meet my mother at the door with a stack of library books begging, "Read to me!" I began writing stories as soon as I understood how sentences and paragraphs worked -- the summer between first and second grade. She instilled the importance of correct spelling, good grammar and standard punctuation to properly season creativity. I honed my writing skills through story telling, reading and sharing picture books, novels and my own writing with my children.
