About the Author ... Ochil Kinnaird is the pseudonym used by Wullie Nolan. His first foray into writing saw him pen a three-book series called the 'Black Bats'. They are ‘coming-of-age’ books about a young lad who, growing up, becomes involved with a local motorcycle gang. Being someone who has been in and around the motorcycle scene for most of his life, Wullie managed to pick up and retain some interesting anecdotes through the years. Although his books are written as 'fictitious autobiographies', he admits that a large amount of the material used was taken from incidents he'd witnessed or from stories that were passed on to him by others down the years. One night, when socialising with a few friends, one of them suggested, because he could recall so much from their past, that maybe he should write a book. At the time, he laughed it off but a seed must have been sown because, not long afterwards, he began jotting down some of the stories. At that time, Wullie worked as a Curriculum Manager at South Lanarkshire College, and during the summer break in 2012, he began writing. The first book, 'Black Bats 1%/13', was released just before the summer of 2013 and the follow-up, 'Black Bats 2 (it's all gone tit's up)' in September 2014. His plan, initially, was just to write the one book, but when he started, he realised that he had way too much material and very quickly decided to turn it into a trilogy, with the final book, 'Black Bat's 3 (Is it really over!)' published in February 2015. When asked about the books, Wullie said: "I'm really glad that people have enjoyed reading them. I have been overwhelmed by the positive comments and reviews and would like to thank everyone for their support". Because of the success of the Trilogy, and demands from readers to pen further books, he wrote: Black Bat's 4 (Freed but not Free!) which was subsequently released in November 2015. Again, with some fantastic comments and reviews. Wullie has now published the final four books in the series: Black Bats 5 (Changed Days), August 2018. Black Bats 6 (Back to Black), December 2018. Black Bats 7 (Redemption), March 2019. Black Bats 8 (Crossroads), October 2019. Wullie is continuing to write and has already started on his latest novel which again is motorcycle related, he said: 'I’ve now started on another series of motorcycle books, which again is set in Scotland and hope they’ll be as well received as my previous books. I would just like to thank everyone who followed me on the Bats’ journey, I really enjoyed it and appreciated every comment and review I received. I am hoping to have the first of the new series out early in the New Year and hope they will be as well received as my previous ones. thanks again. Wullie has now penned 15 Books, including these 7 other titles: ‘Prospect Street’ & ‘A Blast From the past’ - (both Black Bats books, but not part of the 1-8 series). ‘Born Racer (it's a way of life)’ & ‘There & Back’ - both 'motorcycle' related. ‘Deadly Hobby’ & ‘A Secret no more’ & ‘Bona Vacantia’ - which are different genres, more in the 'Thriller’ bracket. Black Bats 1%/13 and Black Bats 2 (It's all gone tits up!) were both published by New Generation Publishing, but because of copyright restrictions, timescales and costs, Wullie and his Editor decided to create their own publishing company and are now self-publishing. They began with Black Bats 3 (Is it really over!), and have published all other titles since, through the publishing company they set up: 'OK62 Publishing'. Wullie said: "Trying to get your works published is the biggest single pitfall for aspiring Authors, and is the main reason for great manuscripts never making it to print. That, and the exorbitant costs, can put off even the most determined of people. Creating their own Company has allowed us to be much more aware of the process, the pitfalls, and actual costs involved. We’ve now published all of Ochil's Books since then, and will continue to do so in the future. We’ve managed to streamline the process making it much easier for us to publish my books. Anyone who has been down the route of broken dreams and false promises, not to mention the expense, I'm sure will agree that all they want is a simplified trouble free way of publishing. If you think we can help, let us know!" Wullie, now medically retired, is currently working on his 16th book and again will publish it through OK62 Publishing. He currently lives with wife Val in Falkirk and has two grown up sons, Gary and Jamie. The Editor
