O.K. "Speedy" Johnson is a former southeast Idaho award-winning journalist who was adopted as a cradle Catholic, was educated in Catholic parochial grade and high schools and experienced a spiritual transformation in moving from practicing religion to embracing a relationship with the Creator of the Universe. Johnson is married with a blended family of one daughter and three sons. One son is adopted from Johnson's biological family and has special needs. When working as a staff writer on the Blackfoot Morning News and Idaho State Journal newspapers from 1975-1986, Johnson covered city/county government, three murder trials, local education, the Fort Hall Indian Reservation, the 1976 Teton Dam flood and a host of other community events. Johnson was also a proficient news photographer. He won several news and feature writing awards in the annual Inland Empire Associated Press competition for mid-size daily newspapers. He moved back to Olympia's south sound in 1986 and ran the family amusement and gaming business until selling it in 2002. He retired in 2016 when God called him and his wife, Patti to move. The author was a fixture on his church's worship teams since 1988, playing Hammond B-3 organ and synthesizers. In his spare time he enjoyed motorcycle riding. He and Patti also were engaged in discipleship training both in Olympia and Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. The Move- The Long Journey Home- is Johnson's second book. It is about God's call to Move from a comfortable western Washington home before landing in northern Idaho where they had no family or friends. It is a story of hearing God's call, faith, obedience, failures, repentance, forgiveness and restoration. It shows anyone can hear God's voice and coupled with testing anything a person believes is from God against the written word of scripture. It says you, too, can have a deeper relationship with Jesus. Johnson's first book, "The Shift", is his story of practicing the stuff of religion before finding all that was really necessary was to come to a living daily faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Religion and practicing Biblical Christianity are different. Johnson's book is available only available in e-book formats. Print copies may be obtained directly from the author.
