As founder of the Avanti Schools Trust, Nitesh leads a pioneering multi-academy trust that blends character development, spiritual insight, and academic excellence, earning him an OBE in 2018 for his contributions to education. As an author, his two transformative books empower readers to apply timeless Vedic wisdom, the fundamental knowledge of the human condition and the nature of reality, to become catalysts for change in their lives and the world. His guiding principles for Avanti schools have inspired the establishment of several aligned charitable projects, including a wellbeing and spiritual retreat centre in Lincoln and a restaurant and wellbeing centre in central London. He co-created the Dow Jones Dharma Index and is advising on the new Dharma Endowment Fund.

Nitesh Gor is a deep thinker, storyteller, and visionary leader who weaves together profound insights on spirituality, education, and leadership. Nitesh’s earliest encounters with the stories of ancient India were filled with magical imagery and timeless wisdom, and ignited a curiosity that would shape his life’s purpose.
A pivotal moment occurred when Nitesh, at just six years old, travelled to India with his family. For the first time, he encountered the sacred land he had only heard about in stories. The trip revealed the full spectrum of India’s spiritual landscape—its awe-inspiring rituals and devotion alongside its challenges of blind faith, corruption, and inequality. This experience planted the seeds of a lifelong exploration into the complex interplay of faith, tradition, and societal progress.
In 1993, as a medical student, Nitesh faced a defining challenge. When a local temple risked closure due to complaints about congestion during an annual festival, Nitesh took a stand. Recognising the temple's role as a spiritual anchor for the community, he formed a youth group that spearheaded a campaign to save it. Their efforts culminated in a mass protest outside Parliament, drawing tens of thousands in defence of faith and community values.
Fatherhood brought a new perspective to Nitesh’s vision for the future. Disillusioned by an education system focused solely on academic achievement, he envisioned a model that integrated spiritual insight, character formation, and educational excellence. In 2005, his groundbreaking proposal secured government funding to establish what would become the Avanti Schools Trust—a movement that now inspires holistic education across the UK.
Nitesh’s pioneering spirit extends beyond education. He co-created the world’s first equity index rooted in dharmic values, the Dow Jones Dharma Index, and has advised numerous initiatives aimed at fostering well-being and community. From a tranquil retreat centre in Lincolnshire (The Vedanta) to a vibrant restaurant and wellbeing hub in London (OmNom), his work is a testament to the transformative power of vision, purpose, and action.
