Nia Chiaramonte holds a BA in psychology with a minor in business from the University of Northern Iowa and a MBA in Human Resources from Northwest Missouri State University. She has practiced people centered, Human Resources for almost 20 years. Nia spent the first thirty-five years of her life hiding in plain sight, scared to be who she is and scared of what it might cost her. While the cost has been high, the reward of being free has been worth it. She and her wife Katie co-founded Love in The Face to help and support other transgender and LGBTQIA+ individuals on their own journeys of self-discovery. Nia's book, The Story of Nib, is the very real story of Nia's self discovery, but it is also a story for everyone who has conformed to the expectations of those around them, losing themselves in the process. Nia and her wife's most recent book, Embracing Queer Family: Learning to Live Authentically in our Families and Communities, encourages us to embrace the Queerness of our family, take ownership of our journey, and use our voice to bring light to your communities.
