Neil Shea is the author of Frostlines: A Journey Through Entangled Lives and Landscapes in a Warming Arctic (Ecco 2025). He's been a contributor to National Geographic magazine for 20 years, covering stories from the deserts of east Africa and caverns below Borneo's jungle to the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan. He is also a creator of the investigative podcast series, Unfinished: Deep South, which was nominated for a Peabody Award and was one of The Atlantic's Best Podcasts of 2020. He is a contributor to The American Scholar and the Virginia Quarterly Review, and he's written for many other publications. Neil lives in Brooklyn.
