From a very early age, I was trouble to my parents. I would always ask why. I thought I was curious. My parents and teachers, well, that's another story. The training they gave me ended up working, though. I followed the straight and narrow until I realized that to have the life I always dreamed of, I would have to unlearn almost everything I had been taught. That journey took me down a path I could never have imagined, for nearly half my life.

Once I started to see opportunities in the world, I wondered why I seemed to be the only one who saw them. I never had to compete for anything. That's when I realized there's no competition, because virtually no one could see what I saw.
My first book, The 1% Door, explores why there is no competition. It follows the whole ride: from the realization that my employer could never pay me what I was worth, to becoming an entrepreneur who built teams and businesses employing nearly three hundred people, to becoming a digital nomad CEO living out of a backpack for the better part of three years, to a near total collapse of everything I built.

The ride was amazing, scary, and sometimes heartbreaking. Through all of it, I stayed curious about what is possible if you never give up. Now I live in three different countries and still travel frequently to some of the most remote places on earth. Along the way I realized my purpose is to share what I have learned. I am not a coach or a guru. I have no special insight. I am a man who asked a question, and had the freedom to chase it whichever way the wind blew. This book is what I found. I hope you find it useful on your journey.
