Oanh Ngo Usadi was born in Saigon, Vietnam. Her first book, "Of Monkey Bridges and Banh Mi Sandwiches," tells the story of her family's harrowing escape from Vietnam and their journey to become Americans in a small Texas town. Her latest book, Hawker Dreams: A Vietnamese American in Singapore" published in March 2024, brings the reader on a journey of home and belonging through the prism of language, cuisine, and class. Oanh's writing has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Forbes, the New York Times, the Moth anthology "A Point of Beauty", and elsewhere. She has been featured in several podcasts including the Moth Mainstage, Voice of America, and Bayoulands.
