Mirco von Juterczenka, born 1977 in Solingen, Germany, is a bestselling author, podcaster, filmmaker, and activist for autism awareness and inclusion. As the father of his autistic son Jason, he launched the award-winning project Wochenendrebellen in 2012, born from an extraordinary idea: together in search of Jason's favorite soccer club, they visited all 56 German professional football clubs and numerous international stadiums, creating one of the most moving father-son stories in German-language literature. His debut work "We Are Weekend Warriors" (2017) was shortlisted for Football Book of the Year and received the prestigious Grimme Online Award as well as the Golden Blogger award. The book combines authentic groundhopping reportage with profound insights into life with autism, giftedness, ADHD, and the challenges of the school system. In 2023, the film adaptation "Weekend Warriors" starring Florian David Fitz was released in cinemas and captivated over one million viewers. An Apple remake titled "Weekend Warriors" features Mark Wahlberg in the role of Mirco. Mirco has published several books, including "Weekend Warriors - Chaos on Equal Terms" (2023) documenting the continuation of their journeys, as well as guides and firsthand accounts on autism spectrum disorders, neurodiversity, inclusion in educational settings, and family mental health. His work addresses parents of autistic children, educators, therapists, football fans, and everyone eager to learn more about diversity and social participation. Beyond his literary work, Mirco is active in hospitality and organizational development, produces the successful Weekend Warriors podcast, and engages in social projects, including fundraising campaigns for water and education initiatives in East Africa.
