After an earlier-than-expected retirement, I dove into writing fiction. Before that, my primary writing experience was work-related, centering around marketing: newsletters, press releases, and promotional articles for local newspapers and company websites.

My debut novel, "Forks & Knives," was published in August 2024 by Black Rose Writing. I consider it literary women's fiction, but it's also a fictionalized autobiography. The actual story of my first marriage is not told in a linear manner, nor are the characters true reflections of the real people who lived that path. But "Forks & Knives" offers readers a "what if" view of a marriage marred by alcoholism and codependency. If you've ever wondered what those forks in the road of your life might have looked like if you'd made other choices along the way, I hope you'll find the novel interesting and even empowering.

NOTE: In October 2026, the rights to "F & K" reverted to me, and I republished the book through Little Key Publishing with a new cover. The NEWEST version of the book is the one with the young woman at a crossroads, looking over her shoulder at the other possible path. She's wondering, "What if I travel down that road instead?" Be sure to purchase THAT book, as the previous version is no longer carried by Black Rose Writing.

In the spring of 2025, my husband Stephen and I started Little Key Publishing. We published my second novel, "DARE," through that imprint. Then, in October 2026, we published TWO new books: my third, "Whatever Comes Next" (speculative literary fiction), and Stephen's debut novel, "Covered Tracks" (mystery/crime drama).

I credit my love of writing to my parents, two of the smartest self-educated people I ever knew, both avid readers. They taught me the power of storytelling and how words can empower, educate, and build bridges to compassion and understanding.

Together, Stephen and I have successfully raised four wonderful children, and we enjoy spending time with them and our grandchildren--all in Colorado! When we're not making stuff up (!), we love to travel, manage our fantasy football teams, see live theater, and read. I'm also a passionate scrapbooker who is trying to practice the lessons of yin yoga. Practice is the key word there.
