In 2001, right out of the blue, my outgoing, gregarious, dad collapsed whilst out washing his car. This was the start of my family’s cruel and devastating journey with Vascular Dementia. He was 59. He was 77 when he died. He was ill for nearly 18 years.

My Mum and I decided to write a memoir to share our family’s journey of living with the disease. Writing our memoir was a cathartic experience for me. As well as reliving the ‘low’ moments of our journey with the disease, the experience also forced me to dig deep and think about the special moments, being grateful for certain people in my life and being proud of the things that I have achieved so far.

Writing about my Dad and his illness and eventual death was really tough, but strangely enough, it was almost like a counselling session. I opened up about my thoughts, my fears and what my daily life was life during these times and somehow, I felt it was start of the healing process.

The release of our memoir in January 2023 was an achievement that I never, ever imagined and the day I held the printed version of “Come On In” made me incredibly proud. The collection of five-star reviews play an important part in driving conversions because they help build trust and credibility with our audience.
