MICHAEL (and wife) DELANE SALKELD
IN BUSINESS: Together as partners in business and marriage, Michael and Delane Salkeld co-founded their apartment management and investment company, ParaWest Management, in 2003 after both had led successful careers for more than twenty years. Today, with offices in Scottsdale, Arizona, and Houston, Texas, ParaWest is known as a "best-in-class" regional leader in the industry and has more than two-hundred employees, currently managing a portfolio of apartment investment properties valued at more than one-half billion dollars with locations in more than fifteen cities and six states.
MINISTRY SERVICE: Michael and Delane Salkeld began serving in ministries shortly after their marriage, beginning with "Mathew Twenty-Five", a group that served monthly meals and fellowship to homeless families. They went on to work with homeless single moms in a program known as "The Bridge", and later, looking to reach greater numbers with their service, reached out and worked with Mentor Kids, USA, serving underprivileged children and their families. They then spearheaded the start of a summer camp program for the kids, initially at their home and later combining that with classes at their nearby church. The summer camp recently celebrated its 10th anniversary!
Early on in their journey with ParaWest, Michael and Delane also began working with Bread and Water for Africa (a subsidiary of Christian Relief Services, Inc.), an international charity serving orphaned children, widows, and impoverished rural villagers in Zambia, Cameroon, and Sierra Leone in sub-Saharan Africa.
Their involvement there has included the installation of water wells to provide clean water, medical campaigns and hospital construction, housing for young adults, Bibles for children and widows, Christmas for the kids, schools and teacher support, and much more.
They have been blessed to have made three trips to Africa over the past sixteen years and have many cherished friendships and fond memories of the children, the caregivers, the rural villagers, and others. As an added blessing from these trips, they have experienced God's wonders on display in African wildlife and the beauty of this glorious continent!
FAMILY AND HOME: Michael and Delane Salkeld have two adult children (Michael's stepsons), an adopted teenage daughter, six grandchildren, an enormous extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and more... and their two puppies (brother and sister) Maltese/Shih-Tzu's, George and Gracie.
With family spread out geographically, Michael and Delane are blessed to be able to get together with many of them on extended-family summer and Christmas vacations, often in beautiful and God whisper-inspired locations!
As longtime members of Scottsdale Bible church which they call "home", Michael and Delane have been active in various ministries and outreach programs over many years.
Michael and Delane were married in a simple service on a beautiful warm, sunny day on a garden patio overlooking the Pacific Ocean at the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego, California, and recently returned there to celebrate their 27th anniversary!
