I live in Santa Barbara, California, and when I’m not sitting in my therapist chair engaged in providing psychotherapy I am in my greenhouse writing novels. These two pursuits meet in my inherent respect for the human condition, in all of its variations, and a deep appreciation for the stories these variations create. GWENDOLYN AND EDDIE, my new novel, was published February 18, 2025 (Koehlerbooks). It takes an intrepid voyager to keep the faith in the ever shifting seas of love and my heroine Gwendolyn is intrepid indeed, even when her dashing but inebriated husband arrives home one dawn in 1957 and hands over the leash and responsibility for an equally drunken monkey named Eddie. He is a rascal but that’s not the worst of it. Gwendolyn is a woman of her time and the times, they are a changing. This story sweeps Gwendolyn from 1957 to 2016. She spends those years challenged with the tasks, both comedic and heartbreaking, of domesticating the wildness of her husband and her monkey. My first novel, THE CURE FOR LOVE, was published in 2013, and is still available on Amazon. It is, not surprisingly, about a psychologist. His name is Jack Cochran and he is the author of a self-help book cringingly titled “Winning at the Game of Love”, made all the more so because of his spectacular failure in his marriage to the eccentric and beautiful Alexandria. One fateful day Andrew appears in his office asking for help with his mercurial fiancé, hurtling the doctor into an ethical nightmare and a tragic unfolding the explores the glories as well as the deep shadows of love.
