Michael A. Morrison is a U.S. Army veteran, author, and software creator from Southern Illinois. He served in the Army from 1989 to 1995 as a machinist and metalworker, with assignments that included South Korea, Germany, Virginia, and Fort Riley, Kansas. His military experiences became the foundation for his memoir, From Civilian to Soldier: A Military Memoir.

Michael also writes the Little Egypt Mysteries under the pen name M. A. Chiefton. The small towns, rural landscapes, local history, and hardworking people of Southern Illinois inspire his stories. His books combine mystery, family secrets, forgotten history, and characters who are shaped by the communities around them.

After working for many years in machining, maintenance, technical drafting, and industrial planning, Michael brought his practical experience and problem-solving background into software development. He created Audiobook Studio, a Windows program designed to help authors turn manuscripts into natural-sounding audiobooks using a voice sample. The program includes local voice cloning, chapter-production tools, audio repair, and ACX-ready MP3 mastering.

Michael believes independent authors should have practical and affordable tools that allow them to tell their stories in their own way. Whether he is writing about military life, creating a Southern Illinois mystery, or developing software for other authors, his work is grounded in experience, determination, and a respect for honest storytelling.
