Michael ByungJu Kim is the author of the national bestseller "Offerings." Born in South Korea and raised in both South Korea and New Jersey, Kim is a philanthropist and financier. He is a Partner and founder of MBK Partners, a private equity company that invests in industry-leading companies within healthcare, financial services, consumer solutions, logistics, business services, technology, and other sectors. Published by Arcade Publishing in 2020, Offerings is Kim’s first literary release and has received praise from authors such as Malcolm Gladwell, Gary Shteyngart, and Elizabeth Cobbs. Offerings was inspired by his career on Wall Street and his role in assisting in Korea’s recovery from the Asian Financial Crisis. Kim is the recipient of several awards, including Private Equity Professional of the Year from Asian Venture Capital Journal, Most Influential in Korea’s Capital Markets from Market Insight, and Philanthropist of the Year from the Council of Korean Americans. Kim was named one of the 50 Most Influential in the World by Bloomberg Markets and one of Forbes Asia’s 2024 Heroes of Philanthropy. Kim was a member of the Harvard Business School Board of Dean’s Advisors and chair of the Board of Managers for Haverford College, both his alma maters. Currently, he is on the board of trustees for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and Carnegie Hall and formerly held a seat on the board of trustees for The New York Public Library from 2021 to 2024. He received an honors degree in English from Haverford College and is a graduate of Harvard Business School, where he earned his Master of Business Administration. At Haverford, he became a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. Kim was also a Fulbright Scholar.
