Mercedes Meier taught Spanish as a Foreign Language and for Heritage Speakers for over twenty years. She holds a Doctorate in Linguistics Applied to the Teaching of Spanish from the University of Salamanca, Spain. She was a National Board Certified Spanish Teacher (K–12), nominated Teacher of the Year in Lee County Public Schools (Florida) in 2004, and later became an instructor at Coastal Carolina Community College in North Carolina, where she received the Educator of the Year Award (Humanities Department) in 2013. She also taught Spanish at Miami Dade College in Florida for ten years. Over the course of her career, Mercedes has presented at major national and international conferences and has been honored with several distinctions. In addition to her teaching career, Mercedes is a writer with a lifelong passion for health, learning, and personal growth. Since 2014, she has been the author of the ¡Buen Camino! A Spanish Language Learning Adventure series, available on Amazon—an engaging story about El Camino de Santiago that helps readers and students discover Spanish through culture and lived experience. Her interest in well-being has led her to explore nutrition, supplements, and holistic practices for decades. More recently, she has turned to artificial intelligence as a powerful ally to make health knowledge more accessible and personalized. In Your Diet and Your Health with AI: A Beginner’s Guide, Mercedes combines her personal journey with modern tools to help readers design their own health plans with clarity and confidence—without needing to be a doctor or a tech expert. She writes in a clear, practical, and encouraging style, making complex ideas easy to apply in everyday life. When she’s not writing, Mercedes enjoys traveling, the outdoors, films, theater, and sharing knowledge that inspires others to take charge of their well-being.
